Can't stop listening to...Gotye

I've been playing this song on repeat lately, I can't even tell you how much I love it!

I'm not sure if he's infiltrated the international music scene but he's been a rather beloved member of the indie Australia scene for a few years now and for good reason. Gotye (real name Wally Debacker) is an amazing musician who makes incredibly unique and incredibly emotive music. This song is a bit more angsty than his previous singles but it does it so beautifully. I mean... those lyrics, that voice, the musical accompaniment...and Kimbra. It's perfect. It soars. I can't even put into words how much I love this guy, I can't wait for the full album to come out in a few weeks.

If you liked this you really owe it to yourself to check out his full website and really immerse yourself in Gotye's creativity and prolific music.

  2. Wow, such A beautiful song! I'll be checking out more of his work for sure. There's a lot of great music coming out of Australia these days: Cut Copy. Temper Trap, Angus and Julia Stone come to mind.

  4. Yep, I'm totally addicted to this guy's music. After going through a nasty break-up, "Somebody That I used to Know" is becoming my theme song. :p

Hopefully he decides to tour Canada to promote the new album because I would love to see him live.

Sweet, I'm glad you're a temper trap fan! I saw them live when they came here and they put on an energetic and insane show.

  5. I know he's in Australia until the end of the year touring but I have heard that he's signed (found distribution?) with a US label so hopefully that means he'll be heading your way soon!

He's amazing live. He drums as well as sings and it's so good, spine-tingling.

This is such a good break-up song, so angsty and just the right touches of anger, pity and depression. Ugh, this will never get old!
