Day 21 - A book where you wish you were one of the characters

 Harry Potter (1-7)
by J.K Rowling

This is the easiest question I've come across so far. Since I began reading the series at the age of 12 until the day I die I can say without a shred of doubt that I will always wish I could be a part of this magical world. When I found these books I was so devastated that at the age of 12 I was obviously not going to receive that heavy parchment envelope any time soon. That didn't stop me from dreaming of ways around that, perhaps because I was coming from Australia our ages would be different because of different schooling systems, and dreaming of all the adventures I'd go on with the fantastic trio of Harry, Ron and Hermione. During the past 10 years I have met only a few people who haven't imaged themselves hanging in Diagon Alley or Hogsmeade with a butterbeer or fizzing wizzbee, joining the Order of the Phoenix or desiring to sit through those deliciously interesting Hogwarts lessons (that the students seem to bore of so easily!). Rowling created such a rich and inviting world that every character feels real to me, and are some of the best friends I could imagine having.* I've poured myself into those books just as Ginny poured into Riddle's diary, although my relationship has been much more rewarding.** Harry Potter is the perfect embodiment of why I love to read, and even when I've been feeling at odds with reading a quick flick through Harry Potter will always re-awaken that love. To J.K Rowling I will be eternally grateful and of the wizarding world and all its inhabitants I will always envy.

* Sorry for being such a fan girl here, but serious Harry Potter is my bible.
** I know that makes it sound like I have no friends, I do, they just aren't Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville, Sirius, the twins etc etc

Because I feel like I just pole-vaulted over the line between fan and fanatic I'm going to show this clip of Harry Potter's number one fan again because it makes me feel a lot less obsessive!

  1. I can totally relate to this! When my mother gifted me the first Harry Potter book when I was 11, I kept on waiting for my Hogwarts letter to arrive :D
